Privacy policy
Last updated October 21, 2026. In short: we use your information to run the app for your household, we don't sell it, and we don't show ads.
What we collect
- Your account: name, email address and password (stored hashed), or your Google sign-in if you use it.
- What your household adds: recipes, photos of scanned pages, tags, ratings, meal plans, grocery lists, prep checklists and cooking history.
- Household settings, such as your household name, ZIP code, stores, budget and prep preferences.
- People you share with: email addresses you send recipes or invites to, and your friends list.
- For your subscription: the App Store subscription's id, product and renewal date that Apple sends us. Apple handles payment; we never see your payment details.
- Basic technical information needed to run the service, such as sign-in cookies and server logs.
How we use it
- To run the app for your household: show your recipes, build plans and lists, and keep everyone's screens in sync.
- To send emails you ask for or need: password resets, invites, shared recipes, trial reminders, receipts, and the optional morning meal email.
- To read scanned recipes and build smart prep plans with AI (see below).
- To keep the service secure and working.
We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for advertising.
Who can see your household's data
Members of your household. If you choose to share your recipe box with another household, they can search and copy your recipes (not your plans, lists or settings). Recipes you send to someone are copied to them only when they accept.
Services that help us run Planned & Prepped
- Render: hosting and our database.
- Backblaze B2: storage for recipe photos.
- Anthropic (Claude AI): reads scanned pages and recipe text, and builds smart prep plans. Only what's needed for that request is sent.
- Mailgun: sends our emails.
- Zippopotam.us and Open-Meteo: turn your ZIP code into a location and fetch the weather forecast for planning.
- Google: sign-in, only if you choose “Continue with Google”.
- Apple: subscriptions and payment through the App Store.
Cookies and storage
We use a cookie to keep you signed in, and your browser's storage for small conveniences (for example, remembering that you dismissed the “Add to Home Screen” tip). No advertising or tracking cookies.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your household's data is kept while your household exists. When the last member leaves a household, its recipes, plans and lists are deleted. To delete your account entirely, email us at hello@plannedandprepped.com from the address you signed up with.
Children
Planned & Prepped is meant for adults managing a household. Accounts are not intended for children under 13.
